I am a European School graduate, where I concluded my secondary education with a 93/100 result. I am well-acquainted with the European Baccalaureate curriculum (EB), as well as the International Baccalaureate (IB). Currently, I am pursuing my Bachelor’s degree at Maastricht University in the field of natural sciences at the Maastricht Science Program. As a young adult, I have plenty of experience with young people - both on a social and professional level.

Motivatie

As a student of natural sciences, I see how my fellow peers struggle with topics such as Chemistry and Maths, and how some of them are still uncertain of their English skills. As a person who knows what students struggle with, I know I can help them. I am looking to do something valuable and I believe teaching others is just that. I have experience tutoring my fellow university peers, as well as younger 13-16 year old IB students - I have been tutoring for the past 5 months. I thoroughly enjoy teaching - both online and in person.

Mijn aanpak

First of all, I take my time to listen and to understand the student's needs. It is crucial to make sure what the goal of the tutoring session is - i.e. improving general understanding of the topic, exam preparation etc. Then, I make sure to ask the student about their individual preferences when it comes to learning - do they learn with visuals, noting things down, remembering my repetition? Once all that is set, I create an individual plan for every student. I prepare materials before the lesson, take notes in the online platform that the student can then fill in during class and we can both write simultaneously. After each lesson, I provide a summary of topics discussed. I think that the qualities that make me a great tutor are patience, reliability, the fact that I always do everything on the highest level possible to ensure high quality of the lessons. I like to make jokes from time to time, nurture a positive and friendly atmosphere. At the same time, I am always very to the point, I do not waste time and do not get sidetracked.
